Plangdes Nelson, popularly known as Allwell Nelson, was abducted on September 14, 2025, after armed men reportedly broke into her family residence in Dong community, Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.
At the time, Nelson was a baker and a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member serving in Bauchi State. She was reportedly staying at her brother-in-law’s residence when the attackers forced their way into the compound and took her and her cousin, Bright Bernard.
The kidnappers subsequently demanded a ₦50 million ransom from the family. The family appealed to the Plateau State Government and the police for her rescue, while the Plateau State Police Command said its men were working on the case.
Exactly one year after the abduction, Nelson returned to social media with an entirely different announcement.
On September 14, 2026, she announced that she had given birth to her first child, noting the striking coincidence that the date marked both one year since her abduction and the arrival of her baby.
“14/09/2025. Exactly one year ago, I was kidnapped. I never imagined that this same date would become one of the happiest days of my life,” she wrote.
Reflecting on how dramatically her circumstances had changed, Nelson added:
“God turned my tears of fear into tears of joy. I gave birth to my precious baby.
“From pain to a beautiful testimony. Only God could write this story. The mummy, daddy and the baby are fine.”
Her announcement has since attracted congratulatory messages from Nigerians online.
